Creating and editing a protocol in BioConnect

The Protocol Curation section of BioConnect allows users to describe a protocol, annotate it with a controlled term to support search, link to a stored protocol document, and control access to the protocol object.

The protocol curation section of BioConnect is restricted to system administrators and curators. If you would like to add your protocols, please email us at bioconnect_support@jax.org or find us on the #bioconnect-support Slack channel.

View existing protocols

Navigate to the protocols page by selecting Protocols from the Admin section of the left menu. You can search for protocols based on text in the title and description. Protocols can also be filtered based on associated investigations by clicking on the filter (funnel) icon in the header row. Clicking on the blue chevron shows the full list of associated investigations if there are multiple.

Click on the Column Settings link above the list to add or remove columns from the protocol list (Figure 2). This can make it easier to sort or filter the protocols.

Create or edit a protocol

From the protocol list, click the + Create New Protocol button at the top of the page to define a new protocol. Click the pencil icon to the right of a protocol to update. The process is the same for both creating and updating. Figures 3 and 4 show the fields available for describing a protocol, its location (either uploaded or linked), and additional comments.

Please see the Controlling Access page for details on permissions.
